Wedding DJ FAQWhat couples ask about the DJ and MC.
Specific to the DJ and MC side of the day. The general questions (holding a date, payments, overtime, insurance) are answered in the homepage FAQ.
Is the DJ also the MC, or are they two people?
One person for Essential+, Signature+ and Luxe: your DJ is on the mic for every announcement, which keeps the timing tight. All-In adds a second person so one can host while the other mixes.
Can you run ceremony sound in a different spot from the reception?
Yes. Ceremony sound is a separate setup, so a lawn ceremony, a courtyard cocktail hour and an indoor reception all get covered without moving speakers while guests watch.
How much of the music do we pick?
As much as you like. Most couples send 15 to 30 must-plays, a do-not-play list and the songs for the key moments, then let the DJ read the room for the rest. A fully scripted playlist works too.
Do you take guest requests?
Only if you want us to. Many couples allow requests that fit the vibe and block the do-not-play list. We follow whatever rule you set.
What do you need from the venue?
Power near the DJ position and load-in access about two hours before guests arrive. Everything else, from the sound system to the booth, comes with us.
How many hours are included?
Packages are built around your timeline rather than a fixed clock: ceremony, cocktail hour and reception are all covered, and the exact hours go on the agreement after the planning call. If the night runs long, overtime is $250 per hour.
What is your starting price?
Wedding packages start at $3,600 (Essential+). Signature+ with the photo booth, our most booked, starts at $5,300. Private events start at $650. Every package includes setup, breakdown, a planning call and travel within the Bay Area.
Is there a travel fee?
Not in the Bay Area: all nine counties are included. Oahu and other destinations are quoted with one flat travel fee.
How early do you arrive?
About two hours before the start time, for load-in and a full sound check of the ceremony, cocktail and reception setups before guests see the room.
Are you insured, and can the venue get a certificate?
Pretium Eventus LLC is a California LLC with insured equipment. Ask for the certificate with your quote if the venue needs one.
How do deposits and payments work?
A signed agreement and a non-refundable retainer hold the date. The balance is due 14 days before the wedding. We accept cash, Zelle, Venmo and electronic transfer, and one reschedule is allowed without penalty with 60 days' written notice.
